Celebrate International Day of Education

Posted February 20, 2023 | by Signet Group Inc.

January 24th was International Day of Education, which is recognized worldwide to celebrate the role of education in peace and development. This year marks the fourth International Day of Education, and the fact that it has passed doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate by educating yourself. Visit a museum near you, take a new class or start a new hobby. Here are a few ideas on how you can celebrate.

Visit the Museum of Illusions

If you live in one of our downtown Toronto residences, this museum is not to be missed. With an educational twist, the Museum of Illusions offers something for all ages and interests. Math, science, psychology and visual arts can all be explored and learned about here via the Moire Pattern exhibit, Color Room, Colors installation and Hollow Face illusion.

Take a digital design course

Learn how to 3D print, code, edit images or even how to sew. The Toronto Public Library offers a variety of digital design courses at different locations throughout the city. And all courses are completely free! So you can educate yourself on a wide range of things without breaking the bank.

Learn about science

There is always something going on at the Ontario Science Centre, be it a special exhibit or one that is ongoing. People of all ages can wander around this museum and learn about science by seeing, touching and listening. Examine meteorites from Mars, admire tropical coral or stroll through a rain forest, all while opening your mind and discovering new things.

Become a jeweller

Learn the art of jewellery making by signing up for a session at The Devil’s Workshop. Bead working, glass fusing or metal printing can fast become a hobby if you sign up and learn the basics. Workshops range in length from a couple of hours to a few days. In the end, not only will you have some lovely pieces, but you may also have a new hobby.
